I used to use the Twenty Thirteen theme. It works well when the posts are fairly lengthy – and the featured images look good (but beware – it crops to the centre 200(ish) pixels vertically). Experiment, experiment, experiment 🙂

Just keep playing with it until you love it. I would put your ‘Pages’ widget at the top to make your site easier to navigate, especially if you’re planning on adding more 🙂
